The Freya Family

Freya comes with a wonderful family and and we're thrilled they welcomed us in. For us, it started with Kent, owner of Little Yacht Sales in Kemah, Texas. Kent kindly answered all of my emails and texts prior to our visit to see Freya for the first time.

Freya has a unique history. All of her owners are friends and have sailed together. In addition, each owner hired the same broker, Kent, friend of each owner and frequent crew on Freya. Small world in the big state of Texas!

The history. Kent was a Pacific Seacraft dealer in the 90s and sold the boat new to Dr. Ed in 1998. Dr. Ed and his good friend, Dave sailed "Steady Healer" extensively in Mexico for over 10 years. Eventually, Dr. Ed and Dave sold her to their friends, Bill and Jackie. Bill and Jackie named her "Freya" and sailed her in Florida for a few years.

Next up was Scott, a good friend of Bill and Jackie. Scott sailed Freya all over the Caribbean and U.S. East Coast. In 2017, Scott, Bill and another friend, Will, sailed Freya across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe after a major refit at the Pacific Seacraft factory in North Carolina. Eventually, Scott sailed Freya back to Kemah to list her with Kent, who had sold her each time - to Dr. Ed, Bill and Scott.

We first met Kent and saw Freya in late November 2020. By late January 2021, we had an accepted offer on Freya! We flew down for the boat, rig and engine surveys and sea trial. We were quickly welcomed into the Freya family by Scott, Bill, Jackie, Will and Donna. We enjoyed a fun dinner with all of them, (which felt a bit like an audition with Shiner bock beer and local oysters) and luckily they liked our answers! By the end of the evening, we we were hugging farewell until our next visit.

In April 2021, we spent two weeks living on Freya in Waterford Harbor, getting to know her and creating our to-do lists. Thanks to Scott, Freya came with 15 crates of spare parts and accessories! So we made several trips from Bill and Jackie's barn to Freya. We even befriended Jackie's horses who loved our visits!

That visit, we also spent time with the Little Yacht Sales gang, who treated us like royalty. They even gave me an office to work from while were were here in April - my first floating office! They also let us keep Freya in the prime brokerage slip location - even after we purchased her January. They said they wanted to keep an eye on her for us while we were in Michigan, from February to August, wrapping up our lives on land. So kind. We feel so lucky to have found Freya and the wonderful family of people who cared for her the last 20+ years. They have shared their kindness, knowledge and experiences with us, for which we are so grateful. Occasionally in life, you meet people who would do anything for you...the Freya family are those people. Lucky us.
